The Revered Dolphin in Ancient Art

Dolphins were held in high regard by both the ancient Greeks and Romans, and were often featured prominently in works of art. One of the earliest known depictions of dolphins can be found on a frieze in the Palace of Knossos, located on the island of Crete, dating back 3,500 years.

The depiction of dolphins in ancient art is a testament to their cultural significance and the reverence in which they were held. This is evident in the attention to detail and the artistic craftsmanship that went into these works of art, showcasing the importance of dolphins in ancient society.
