Projects
A custom all-tile pool in Coto de Caza, Orange County. More than 250,000 hand-cut smalti pieces bring a five-color scroll design across the pool and spa.
From reference to mosaic
The design began with an Italian hand-painted ceramic tile. We developed its scroll motif into a custom mosaic for a private client’s pool, using five colors to carry the pattern across the larger surface.
Mosaiclegs created the design and fabricated the hand-cut mosaic in our own studio. The photographs below follow the work from fabrication through installation and the finished pool.
The scrollwork connects the pool floor, waterline and spa details. Hand-cut pieces allow the curves and color boundaries to follow the design rather than a fixed tile grid.
Materials & palette
The five-color palette combines blues and browns with a neutral white. An infinity-blue field provides the background for the scrollwork.
