A marble mosaic floor, drawn and cut to a Louis XV pattern.
A carpet in marble and glass
For a grand entrance, we made a marble mosaic carpet inlaid with smalti glass in blue hues. The pattern is a Louis XV design: interlaced ribbonwork enclosing acanthus, with a matching motif at each corner and a double line framing the field.
The ground is cream marble laid in fanned coursing, so it moves around the ornament rather than sitting flat behind it. The ribbon is cut in deep cobalt, and the leaves in three paler blues, shaded so they read as leaves rather than as shapes.

The sample board: the drawn design with six numbered materials, from dark and cream marble through four blues.

In the workshop. The field is set tessera by tessera onto paper, with the drawn cartoon still visible where the scrollwork has yet to be filled.

How we work
Every piece is cut by hand and set to a full-size drawing approved before fabrication begins. Once a project is confirmed we make a custom sample board, so material and color can be approved before production. Work is mounted paper-faced, never mesh, and arrives in numbered sections keyed to a setting drawing, ready for your tile setter. We fabricate rather than install, and can refer an experienced installer in your region.
