Five fountains for one house, each with its own mosaic design.
The gold scroll fountain, one of the five.
Five fountains, five designs
This Mediterranean-style house in La Quinta, California, has fountains on its walls and in its courtyards, and each one got its own mosaic. We designed five, all in hand-cut glass: a gold panel with blue and turquoise scrolls, a blue arch with a lion’s head, a blue arch with pink and green scrolls, a gold arch with a fine trellis of leaves, and a ring of flowers for the floor of a round courtyard basin.
They share a palette of gold, cobalt and warm reds, so the house reads as one design as you walk through it, but no two fountains are alike.
The finished fountains

Drawn to fit each fountain
Each fountain was measured and drawn to its stone surround, then colored, so the owners could see every design before it was made. The lion fountain was drawn around the carved head and basin, and the courtyard basin as a ring that frames the fountain’s base.

From the color drawing to the finished hand-cut mosaic.

Laid out in the studio
Every panel was set full size in our studio, then checked against the drawing before it shipped. Up close, you can see the hand-cut pieces following each curve of the design.
